Here’s Why Logistics Services Should Have a Halal Certificate
Assalamu’alaikum Sobat Halal-Mu
Logistics is a series of efforts that include the effectiveness of planning, implementing, and monitoring the process of moving goods or services from source to final destination. This process involves various aspects such as transportation, storage and distribution.
Based on Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH Law) states that products that enter, circulate and are traded in the territory of Indonesia must be halal certified, including the scope of services. Halal certificates for the services in question are also contained in Government Regulation (PP) 39 of 2021 in Article 135 covering business services related to slaughter, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales, and presentation.
Why should logistics services be halal? Because there are critical points of halalness in logistics services, namely:
- At the procurement stage, there is a risk that the goods ordered or purchased may not be in accordance with the list of ingredients / products that are declared halal.
- Receipt of goods, there is the potential that the goods received may not be in accordance with the list of halal approved ingredients / products.
- Storage stage, there is a risk of contamination of halal ingredients / products during the handling and storage process.
- In distribution and transportation, there is a risk of contamination of halal ingredients / products during product delivery.
For this reason, halal certification is very important for logistics services so that halal products are guaranteed and their halalness is maintained during the transportation, storage and distribution processes.
