MUI Secretary General Encourages Muhammadiyah Bandung University as Halal Industry Research Center

MUI Secretary General Buya Amirsyah Tambunan delivered remarks at the National Workshop which was held in the framework of the 8th Milad of the University of Muhammadiyah Bandung (UMB) and the Kokam Great Apple which was attended by around 2000 Kokam at UM Bandung on June 30, 2024.

When asked by the media crew, Buya Amirsyah, Secretary General of MUI, said that Bandung has the potential to become the center of halal culinary in Indonesia. Therefore, Buya Amirsyah encouraged UM Bandung as a halal culinary research center in the West Java region.

Buya further said that various steps are needed, among others; first, strengthening halal infrastructure that is able to conduct research to accelerate the growth of halal products in Indonesia towards the world’s halal industry center.

“Second, strengthening the halal product guarantee system (SJPH) which is easily accessible to business actors. SJPH is an integrated system, compiled, implemented, and maintained to regulate materials, production processes, products, resources, and procedures in order to maintain the continuity of the halal halal product process,” he said.

Third, strengthening and developing professional halal auditors to be able to carry out halal audit tasks at home and abroad through the Department Of Halal Auditing and Halalan Thayyiban Studies of The Central Board of Muhammadiyah.

Present at the workshop were Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof.Dr. Irwan Akib, Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah Izzul Muslimin SIP, SIP. Suhada, Deputy Chairperson of the West Java PWM, Ace Somantri who is also a lecturer at Muhammadiyah University Bandung and the leadership and PDMs in West Java and the academic community of UM Bandung.
