Check out, this ingredient that does not need to be Halal Certified

Assalamu’alaikum Sobat Halal-Mu

As is well known, the obligation of halal certification has been regulated in Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) Article 4 which states that products that enter, circulate and are traded in the territory of Indonesia must be halal certified. However, are all ingredients in circulation required to be halal certified?

In the Decree of the Minister of Religion (KMA) Number 1360 of 2021 concerning Materials Exempted from the Obligation to be Halal Certified regulates that the exempted materials include three (3) categories of materials, namely:

1. Materials that come from nature in the form of plants and mining materials without processing, namely: a. materials derived from non-slaughtered animals without processing or being physically processed and without the addition of auxiliaries, additives, or other materials. b. materials derived from microbial fermentation processes without processing or being physically processed and without the addition of auxiliary materials, additives, or other materials. c. materials derived from natural water without processing or physical treatment and without the addition of auxiliaries, additives, or other materials.
2. Materials categorized as not at risk of containing prohibited materials, consisting of materials other than materials derived from nature and inorganic and organic materials and chemical products resulting from mining or synthesis.
3. Materials that are not classified as dangerous and do not intersect with haram materials, consisting of: a. chemicals resulting from mining and/or refining processes from natural materials, and b. inorganic and organic synthesized chemicals.
