Head of BPJPH: Taking Care of Halal Certification is Easy, Here’s How

The government continues to educate business actors to carry out halal certification on their products. Apart from being a form of compliance by business actors with laws and regulations that require halal certification for products, halal certification is also ensured to be an added value to be more competitive in the global market.
Head of the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) Haikal Hasan said that taking care of halal certification is easy and also cheap.
“Taking care of halal certification is easy as well as cheap, even free for MSE actors who meet the criteria,” said Head of BPJPH Haikal Hasan in Jakarta, Monday (2/12/2024).
“Registration for halal certification at BPJPH is one door through ptsp.halal.go.id, online so it is practical because it can be done from anywhere and anytime. Business actors who already have an NIB (Business Identification Number) just need to open SIHALAL then create a Sihalal account and apply for a halal certificate electronically.” explained Babe Haikal.
Furthermore, he explained that there are two halal certification service schemes available. Namely regular scheme halal certification and self-declaration scheme or with a statement from business actors.
Regular scheme halal certification is provided for business actors who have halal-certified products that still need to be tested / checked for halalness. In this scheme, the involvement of halal auditors who are members of the Halal Examining Agency (LPH) which has a laboratory in it is required.
Meanwhile, the self-declaration halal certification scheme applies to MSE products if they meet the criteria of not being risky, using ingredients whose halalness has been confirmed, and the product is produced through a simple production process and its halalness is ensured.
The process of field verification and validation of product halalness in this self-declaration scheme halal certification is carried out by the Halal Product Process Assistance (PPH) which is incorporated in a Halal Product Process Assistance Institution (LP3H).
